About Us

The Association of Securities and Exchange Commission Alumni, Inc. ("ASECA") was founded in 1990 by U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") alumni. ASECA was initially formed to continue the camaraderie that existed among ASECA members when they worked together at the SEC. Today it is a network of nearly 1,000 professional members in the U.S. and abroad.

From its origins as a primarily social institution, ASECA has grown through the years to embrace a number of activities, including the following:

  • The Annual Dinner, held in February following the Friday session of PLI’s "SEC Speaks."
  • The William O. Douglas Award annually recognizes an outstanding SEC alumnus/alumna.
  • Unique scholarship programs with seven university partners.
  • SEC Staff Scholarship programs for current SEC support personnel.
  • A variety of regional activities specifically geared for SEC alumni.

ASECA is a non-profit charitable organization whose stated mission is to provide the opportunity for education and growth of industry professionals and to promote study and research in the field of securities law. Gatherings also provide a forum for exchanging information and sharing ideas regarding the administration and reform of securities law.
